The news that the French are hosting a Pocket Film awards for short films made on mobile film is a much more positive spin of the recent horrors of happy slapping, adn yet further evidence of the gallic embrace of citizens media.

According to the bbc coverage:

“There’s already great creativity in mobile phone film-making,” said festival director Laurence Herszberg.

“I don’t think we’ll ever see Scorcese making films on phones, it’s a new form and it will attract its own creators.”

Reminds me of a technology I heard about a while back. Before podcasting, there was…phonecasting – the ability to broadcast from a standard phone to a PC.

All of which merely prompts the following thought:
If Skype enables people to create individual phonecast movies…and eBay enables interpersonal trade, maybe EBay/Skpe can become a creative content and information exchange.

Call it MovieSkype.

Creative commons or Common creativity? The choice is ours.
