I have written before about the need for lean communications…first highlighted to me by Alan Mitchell in a Starbucks in Goodge Street. I think of LC as the optimising of the communications process to the needs of the end-user…

After an exhilerating exchange around accountability systems and people-centric commerce at rightside up, I am reminded of a much larger agenda.

What we actually need is Lean Marketing, of course, based on standardised systems of value-creation.

If people-centric commerce is the ‘Why?’, and accountability is the ‘How?’ which enables it to happen, then lean marketing is the ‘What?’.

Fitting them together would enable society to move from empirical decisions through universalist frameworks to normative outcomes….
