There’s a further build on my point about personal environmental allowances.

Renault has launched its new car’s fuel consumption based on output….NOT input.

Instead of quoting emissions at 37 mpg, Renault says it will do 140g per kilometre…

It’s selling on the basis of cost to the environment, not cost to you. This trend will become pervasive.

Link this to RFID, embedded in vehicles…and you start to see not just congestion charging…but emissions-based charging…

Forget ‘company car tax’….think personal carbon tax…

Simpler still…when you car gets its annual MOT, it could auto-register your mileage with a central database…

The era of personal emissions trading cannot be far away…
